Ok, so my man BMac dropped an article by my office the other day, written by a professor at Masters. “Professor Grant Horner’s Bible Reading System”, it said.

Early on in the article, Prof Horner mentions Psalm 119:99, “I have more wisdom than all my teachers, for thy testimonies are my meditation”, followed by the precise spot in his Bible where this passage is found: right hand page, left hand column, dead center of page, he says. Impressive.

Prof. Horner’s reading plan has you going thru 10 chapters per day, all in different areas of the Word. So, A chapter of Genesis, a chapter from a minor prophet or two, a psalm, a proverb, a gospel chapter, a chapter of Acts, one or two from Paul’s letters, and so on. It’s alot of ground to cover! Prof Horner doesnt encourage speed reading, but by the amount of reading per day, isn’t really encouraging deep full on meditation either. It’s about becoming familiar with the Scriptures over the course of time; reading and re-reading over and over and over…..but also always reading different chunks and seeing how they fit together. It’s always fresh, as you will always be reading different chapters at different times and seeing how these books of the Bible correspond to one another. Exciting!

So I am giving this guys method a shot; not as a quick fix to spiritual intimacy (although I do pray for that), but as a way to read MORE during the day, hopefully meaning I could get thru the entire canon of the Scriptures in the next few months, which I have not done before.

Read it for yourself.
